The Institute for International Cooperation and Development, Michigan USA

 Why We Run The Institute for International Cooperation and Development, Michigan USA.

Through our activities and programs we wish to address some of the basic issues of the world.

We envision and will create IICD to be a place where people from all walks of life and from a diversity of backgrounds can equip themselves with skills and knowledge to take part in changing the world for the better.

IICD wishes to be an example of education and development, where the participants understand themselves as the driving force, where development and change happen by us, and with us!

Develop the World and Develop Yourself.

This is done on many levels through the different activities and programs we run;

The Development Instructor Program and The Activists Fight Poverty program:

These programs has as its aim to participate in closing the gap between rich and poor through sending able-bodied and willing people with a human and economic surplus to take part in creating development and changes in countries and societies where there is a lack of this.

The Programs does this in cooperation with Humana People to People on the basis of Solidary Humanism. The purpose is to create opportunities for development to happen together with people in Southern Africa: Zambia, Mozambique and in Americas: Brazil, Ecuador. The Programs creates the opportunities for ordinary people to make an extraordinary difference!

IICD - Outreach and Community Work

IICD wishes to be an active entity in the local community of Southwestern Michigan as well as the entire state. The Institute is a place where people come to get informed about Africa and Latin America, development and important issues in our world. It is a place where knowledge and culture can develop and flourish and be exchanged  between the people that inhabit the place and the local community. IICD is an active part of the local community. The staff, participants and volunteers arrange educational and cultural activities in the community as well as taking part in practical improvements where that is needed and wished for in the community.

IICD Michigan is located

We are located in a small town called Dowagiac with 3 hours drive to Detroit (East) and Chicago (West). This is the training center where you will live, work, cook, study, clean and build during your time in US together with staff and other volunteers.

At IICD you learn

About the planet we live on; it’s communities, people, environment, and how we can contribute to a better futures for our planet and humankind.

We have created this IICD because we believe that international cooperation and development are necessary goals for people in our time. The institute is an untraditional school, which puts its participants in the driving seat of the education and trains people to be in the charge of many different projects and the daily life. The programs encourage new thinking and demand changes for each individual. We fight poverty shoulder to shoulder with the poor in Africa and the Americas.
