Families benefit from Income Generating Activities

Line 1: Strengthen the economy for the family.

The project has established the first 6 poultries in the area.

6 families have received a small poultry consisting of 50 small chicks, the wire for the house, feed for the first 2 weeks and a manual. The families construct the house and a bigger yard and secure corn for the chicks.

Each family will refund a part of the cost and the money will go into a revolving fund so more families can get poultry. Each family will as well invest in a new batch of 50 chicks using the income from the sale.

The plan is to establish 6 small poultries each month until we have 150 poultries.

 The project expects to improve the family economy with a minimum of 250 USD per year, which is a good support to the family economy.

 One family has received a sewing machine. The purpose is as well to start a small business and generate income to the benefit of the children in the family.

Line 5: Children in difficult situations.

14 families in difficult situations were selected by the area leaders and offered assistance to start a small business, whereby child Aid Toledo purchase second hand clothes on behalf of the selected families, who then sell the clothes and make a small profit. The families will refund the money for the clothes which equals to about 50% of the estimated income and the balance will be divided in 2 portions, one for saving for the business and one for immediate benefit for the families.  The families will receive new clothes from the project until sufficient funds has been saved. At that point a new family will be selected to take over the revolving funds.

 Child Aid Toledo is assisting the families with ideas, with formats to keep control of the clothes and with the estimation of the value of the clothes.
